The 16-peg crank-up style hook head is designed for mega tree and pole tree builds using 1.5" rigid threaded electrical conduit. With a crank-up system, the hook head lowers to ground level so you can attach all your light strings while standing on the ground, then hoist the loaded hook head back up to the top of the pole. This eliminates the need to attach strings at height. Compatible with pixel strips, pixel strings, and traditional string lighting.

The bolts serve two purposes: they can be used as hooks for hanging traditional or pixel string lighting, or they can be used to bolt RGB pixel strips directly to the hook head plate.

Kit includes:

  • 16-hole topper plate
  • 1.5" crank-up style topper/hook head and mounting bolts
  • 16 bolts (for attaching pixel strips or as hooks for traditional strings)
  • Eye bolts for attaching lift cable

Star mount adaptor is NOT included with the crank-up style hook head. To attach a star topper to the top of your pole, you will need the Guy Wire Adaptor Kit, which includes the star mount adaptor.

Add the Mega Tree Pulley Kit along with the Guy Wire Adaptor Kit for a complete crank-up mega tree hook head solution.

⚠️ Important: With a crank-up hook head, there is nothing stopping the hook head from traveling off the top of the pole if cranked too high. Always use the Guy Wire Adaptor Kit to prevent this.

Note: All mega tree components are designed for use with 1.5" rigid electrical conduit and couplings. They will not work with EMT conduit or plumbing couplings. Rigid electrical conduit couplings are much thinner than plumbing couplings — the hook head must be able to slide over the couplings and will not pass over a plumbing coupling.

What's the difference between crank-up and screw-on hook heads?

A crank-up hook head can be raised and lowered along the pole using a pulley system — you lower it to ground level, attach all your light strings, then hoist it up. A screw-on hook head is a fixed, permanent mount that threads onto the top of the pole; strings are attached while the hook head is at the top. Crank-up is generally preferred for taller trees where working at height is impractical.

Do I need the Guy Wire Adaptor Kit with a crank-up hook head?

Yes — for two reasons. First, the Guy Wire Adaptor Kit provides a mounting point at the top of the pole that prevents the hook head from traveling off the top of the pole when cranked too high. Second, if you want to attach a star topper, the star mount adaptor is included with the Guy Wire Adaptor Kit (not with the crank-up hook head itself).

What types of lighting can I use?

This hook head works with traditional string lighting, pixel strings, and RGB pixel strips. The bolts can be used as hooks for string lighting or used to bolt pixel strips directly to the topper plate.

What center pole must I use?

This hook head is designed for 1.5" rigid threaded electrical conduit only — not EMT and not electrical conduit. The hook head sleeve must be able to slide over the conduit couplings, and it will not pass over plumbing couplings.

NOTE:  All of our mega tree components are manufactured for use with 1.5 inch electrical conduit and couplings. they will NOT work with plumbing conduit and couplings. That's why we specify the use of Rigid Electrical conduit not EMT or plumbing pipe. An electrical coupling is much thinner than a plumbing coupling.
