Electrical Accessories for Christmas Light Installation
Vampire plugs, zipcord wire, replacement sockets, seals, and timers — the same installation-grade parts professional holiday lighting installers build with. Custom lengths, clean runs, no tangle of store-bought extension cords.
Walk past a professionally installed display and you won’t see a single store-bought extension cord. Pros build every cord and every run to the exact length the job needs: zipcord wire cut to size, slide-on vampire plugs pressed onto the ends, sockets and seals where they’re needed, and a timer running the whole show. Every part of that system is here — and it pairs with our C7/C9 stringer wire for the full custom setup.
Outstanding. For a non electrician to be able to make the plugs, cords, safely, and to connect over 5K lights is just unbelievable. Great idea, great product.
This really cleaned up the front yard. I used to have multiple extension cords all zip ties together in a giant harness. This absolutely eliminated all of that and now it's simply one cord through the yard with multiple plugs. This is super easy to use and very straightforward.

I wish I knew about these things years ago. Would've made our display so much easier, cheaper, and neater.

Every installation task, matched to the exact parts it needs.
Cut zipcord wire to the exact length the run needs, press a male plug onto the power end and a female plug onto the output end — no stripping, no soldering, no tools. The Gilbert-style design bites into the wire insulation and locks in place. Just match the plug to the wire: SPT1 plugs for SPT1 wire, SPT2 plugs for SPT2 wire — the two are not interchangeable.
Boxed cords and sets force compromises. Installation-grade parts fit the job exactly.
No Tools Required
Vampire plugs press onto zipcord wire by hand — no stripping, no soldering. Termination caps snap on in seconds to seal exposed wire ends.
One Cord Instead of Many
Build each cord to the exact length the job needs. No mismatched store-bought extension cords, no coiled-up excess — just clean runs.
Match Plug to Wire
SPT1 plugs fit SPT1 wire and SPT2 plugs fit SPT2 wire — they are not interchangeable. SPT2 has thicker insulation, making it the heavier-duty choice.
Repair, Don’t Replace
Replacement C7 and C9 sockets fix a damaged stringer — or build one from scratch. The LED Keeper PRO diagnoses and repairs failed LED strings on the spot.
Sealed Against Weather
Socket seals, snap-on termination caps, and Made-in-USA Socket Stuffer® screw-in covers keep rain and moisture out of sockets and wire ends.
Set It Once
The photocell timer detects dusk and turns your display on automatically, then shuts it off after your chosen 2, 4, 6, or 8-hour window — all season long.
Installation Accessories Questions & Answers
What are vampire plugs and how do they work?
Vampire plugs (also called slide-on or Gilbert-style plugs) press directly onto the end of zipcord wire — no tools, no stripping, no soldering. The design bites into the wire insulation and locks in place, making the electrical connection as it seats.
What is the difference between SPT1 and SPT2 wire?
Both are 18 AWG two-conductor zipcord. SPT2 features thicker insulation than SPT1, making it the heavier-duty choice for outdoor applications and higher-load runs. Always match the plug to the wire — SPT1 plugs for SPT1 wire, SPT2 plugs for SPT2 wire. They are not interchangeable.
How do I build a custom extension cord?
Cut zipcord wire to the length you need, press a male vampire plug onto the power-inlet end and a female plug onto the output end. That’s it — a complete custom-length extension cord that replaces a tangle of store-bought cords.
Can I build my own C7 or C9 stringer from scratch?
Yes — thread replacement C7 or C9 sockets onto zipcord wire at any spacing you want, then add vampire plugs on each end to finish the run. The sockets’ internal teeth pierce the insulation and make the connection, no stripping required.
How do I protect empty sockets and exposed wire ends?
Socket Stuffer® screw-in covers seal empty C7 and C9 sockets against moisture and debris — they thread in like a bulb and seal on any standard socket. Snap-on termination caps seal exposed wire ends, and rubber O-ring seals create a moisture barrier between bulb and socket.
Are these accessories rated for outdoor use?
Yes — the accessories on this page are rated for indoor and outdoor use, and the zipcord wire and termination caps are UL Listed. Most accessories carry a 1-season warranty; Socket Stuffer® covers carry a 3-season Reindeer Proof™ Warranty.
