C7 Christmas Lights

C7 LED Christmas lights use a candelabra E12 screw base — the smaller of the two standard outdoor bulb sizes. The Christmas Light Emporium carries C7 ProCore® replacement bulbs in faceted and smooth lens finishes across a full color range, C7 ProCore® string sets (25 lights, 25'), and C7 LED filament vintage bulbs. C7 is the classic choice for indoor Christmas trees — the larger bulb silhouette gives that traditional, old-school incandescent look. Outdoors, C7 is used for rooflines, window outlines, doorway framing, and architectural accents.

Buyer Help

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for choosing, sizing, and installing C7 Christmas lights.

What are C7 Christmas lights?

C7 bulbs are the smaller cousin of the C9 — about 1.5 inches tall with the same classic strawberry shape, just in a more compact size. They produce a warm, refined glow and have been a holiday decorating staple for generations.

What are C7 lights best used for?

C7s excel at wrapping porch columns, lining window frames, decorating fences, and accenting architectural details where a C9 would feel oversized.

Can I use C7 lights on my roofline?

You can, and some homeowners prefer the look on smaller homes or closer-view installations. For larger homes or displays meant to be visible from a distance, C9s usually make a stronger impact.

How do I calculate how many C7 bulbs I need?

Measure your total run in feet and divide by the socket spacing. C7 stringers typically use 12-inch spacing, so a 75-foot porch wrap needs about 75 sockets. Add 10–15% for corners, turns, and connection slack.

What's the difference between C7 LED bulbs and incandescent C7s?

LED C7 bulbs run cool, use dramatically less energy, and hold up longer through repeated seasons. The color quality of modern LED C7s is excellent in both smooth and faceted styles.

Are C7 lights good for outdoor use?

Yes. Our C7 bulbs and stringers are rated for outdoor use and built to perform in rain, snow, and cold.

What's the difference between C7 and C9 Christmas lights?

C9s are larger, bolder, and the standard for roofline outlining. C7s are smaller, more refined, and better for detail work, accent lighting, and smaller-scale applications.

Can I use C7 bulbs in a C9 stringer, or vice versa?

No. C7 bulbs use an E12 candelabra base and C9 bulbs use an E17 intermediate base, so they are not interchangeable.

What's the difference between smooth and faceted C7 LED bulbs?

Smooth C7 LEDs give a clean, even glow. Faceted C7 LEDs scatter light for a sparkling, prismatic effect.

Are C7 lights bright enough to see from the street?

At moderate distances, yes. They are bright and vivid up close and clearly visible from a typical residential street, though C9s deliver more punch from farther away.

What clips work with C7 Christmas lights?

C7 socket wire uses the same general style of clips as C9 — shingle tabs, gutter clips, and surface-mount clips all work when sized correctly.

How many C7 strings can I connect end-to-end?

LED C7 strings can typically be connected in longer runs than incandescent. Always check the max run listed on the product page.

Are C7 ProCore® bulbs dimmable?

Steady-on C7 ProCore® bulbs are dimmable. Twinkle variants may not be compatible with dimmers.

What base does C7 use?

Candelabra E12 base — standard for C7 stringers.

Do C7 sets come with bulbs included?

No — ProCore® sets include the stringer and bulbs separately. Screw the bulbs into the stringer sockets.

What's the Reindeer Proof™ Warranty?

Our in-house warranty covers manufacturing defects and performance failures. Duration varies by product, so check the individual product page for exact coverage.

Everything You Need to Know About C7 Christmas Lights

C7 LED Christmas lights from The Christmas Light Emporium use a candelabra E12 screw base — the smaller of the two standard outdoor bulb sizes (C7 vs. C9). The C7 format is distinguished by its larger, more visible bulb profile compared to 5mm string lights, making it a popular choice for indoor trees where the traditional incandescent look is the goal.

C7 Use Cases

Indoor Christmas trees: C7 is the classic choice for decorating indoor trees — the larger bulb silhouette recreates the traditional old-school incandescent look.

Rooflines and architectural accents: C7 is a common choice for outlining rooflines, framing windows and doorways, and accenting architectural features outdoors.

Note on outdoor tree wrapping: Outdoor tree wrapping is typically done with 5mm string lights (sometimes M5 or G12) — not C7 or C9. C7 and C9 are occasionally used around tree canopies for a modern visual effect, but this is not their primary use case.

C7 vs. C9 — Which Do I Need?

C7 (E12 candelabra base) is smaller than C9 (E17 intermediate base). C9 is the standard for large-scale roofline and architectural outlines where maximum bulb visibility at a distance matters. C7 is well suited for indoor trees and smaller-scale architectural details where a traditional bulb look is desired at a slightly more compact size.

Faceted vs. Smooth ProCore®

Faceted bulbs have a multi-faceted surface that catches and reflects light. Smooth bulbs have a clean, rounded finish for a uniform glow. Both available in the full color range.

How to Choose

C7 lights are ideal for windows, doorways, porch railings, and wrapping trees where a classic mid-size bulb creates a strong, visible presence. Choose between LED and incandescent based on your energy and brightness preferences — LED strings run cooler and use less power over the season. Select a string length that covers your intended area and a color that fits your overall display scheme.
