One side of the clip snaps around the 1/4-inch rod; the other side grips the light base securely. These clips are designed for the smaller base of 5mm and mini LED light strings. The socket diameter of C7 and C9 bulbs is significantly larger and will not fit these clips. For C7 or C9 wireframe mounting, a different clip type would be required.
