These C9/E17 replacement sockets are used for two purposes: replacing a damaged or missing socket on an existing C9 stringer, and building completely custom C9 socket stringers from scratch. Thread them onto SPT1 zipcord wire at any spacing you want, then add vampire plugs on each end to finish the run.
Installation is straightforward: place the socket over the wire so the wire sits in the slot along the socket body, then press the bottom cap onto the socket. The cap forces the wire down onto the teeth inside the socket base, which pierce the insulation and make the electrical connection — no stripping required. Pressing the cap on by hand can be difficult; a pair of C-clamps or woodworking/welding clamps makes the job much easier by applying even pressure across the cap.

I order two bags of these sockets. They are good quality and are working well (a patriotic Red-White-Blue theme right now).
As always, make sure you order extra on top of what you _think_ you will need. One bag was perfect - 25 sockets and 25 caps. The other bag has only 22 sockets and 26 caps. Not a problem as I had also order spares.
This product has allowed me to replace bad sockets on strands as well as add a few more lights if I am short on a strand by combining with set-1 wire. I also used it to create a red nose on one of my reindeer and set-1 wire to conceal the wire.
I bought commercial lights this for the first time and three sockets broke as I was putting the lights up. I found Christmas Light Emporium online and ordered replacements. Ordering was a cinch and the product was priced right. Email notifications were spot on and the sockets showed up when expected. The sockets worked great, by the way.
Last year, I paid a company to install my outdoor Christmas lights on my house, porch fence, and garage. After the installation, I promptly broke one of the lights with my snowplow...
So this year, I ordered these replacement sockets and tried to install a light where I'd broken the last one. And it worked perfectly! These sockets allow you to add a light at any point along the wire you'd like. As opposed to a normal string of lights that have sockets at specific points only.
It was easy, and definitely worth the money!
I am familiar with the sockets, but it would be nice if they had instructions for how to correctly install them, so you don’t damage them.

Worked great, very easy to install.
Your replacement sockets appear to be made for strands that are 16 to 18 gauge wire. My strand is older and made with 12 gauge wire. Yes I had a problem using your socket. Solved the problem buy finding a short piece of 16 gauge wire, mounting the socket to it and then splicing that wire into my strand of lights. That worked but I did that while on a tall extension ladder. I’m nearly 80 years old now making this harder.
HI John and thanks for taking the time to post a review of the replacement sockets. As noted in the product description, 'It is compatible with 18 gauge, SPT1, green wire.' - so, indeed, they will be difficult or impossible to use with a 12 gauge wire. Glad to hear you found a solution though.
Sockets are good work great
Immediately fixed my broken socket issue. Was able to clamp without using any tools.
This makes fixing your strings easy.
Was supposed to be delivered on 10/14 but not received as of 10/22. I have other items purchased and not shipped yet, so I am concerned of the when and If the order will be received. USPS is the shipper.

I made a mistake on my order, I had C9 everything, and then had a brain cramp when I ordered these, I ordered C7s. Christmas Light Emporium folks caught this inconsistency and held my order until they could talk to me. Great job folks.... This saved a lot of annoyance and cost.
With that said, these are great sockets, I have used quite a few of them with no failures.
