For "decades" I have been covering the sockets without a light bulb with black electrical tape. NOT ANYMORE!!!! Ordered and received quickly. Love that the cap is "reversible" and can cover either a C9 or C7 socket. And the cost was excellent for a quantity of 100 EA.

I purchased these hoping they would work. I was completely wrong, they seem to be to big for my c9 sockets and do not stay on. This was a complete waste of money!

Indeed, the caps don't fit all sockets and this is noted in the product description along with the notice that it may require electrtical tape to hold the caps on well. These were about 90% effective. Some of them were warped, and others required quite a bit of elbow grease to get them to fit into my existing C7 light strand. That being said, I’d still recommend. I’m planning on purchasing another box!

They don't fit at all.

I bought these for a C7 commercial stringer from Christmas Lights etc and they don't fit. One side is too loose and the other side is too narrow. If they were just a little deeper the clip would hold them in, but nope. If I have to tape them on then what's the point? I could've just used tape! Return shipping is exorbitant and locked to a carrier and price. I will just hold on to them and take my business back to Christmas Lights Etc.

I used these for my G40 string light strands when “emergency” maintenance was necessary on my pergula. I was concerned about the lights with the ladders being used. Instead of unstrining the whole area, I removed the lights and capped the sockets. They fit perfectly. Now, I will also be able to leave my Christmas light strings up all year instead of removing and reattaching every time.

Socket Cap Cover disappointment

Was looking for a good way to cover some sockets on an outdoor Christmas light string, so it would look more professional. Found these caps and thought this would be perfect for the C9 strand. Got the caps and I was disappointed.

The larger side sits over the open socket and isn't snug at all. It fits so loose that they almost fall right off. I ended up having to put some gorilla tape over them to keep them on.

If I had known I'd end up having to put tape over the caps just to keep them on the socket, I would have just used the gorilla tape and bypassed buying and using the caps. Disappointing. Would have been nice if they were actually snug and would snap onto the socket.

It is true that it would be great if one size cap would fit every socket made. Unfortunately there are many different sizes of socket cups on socket string. For future reference, this is noted in the product description: 'Works with all standard size c7/c9 sockets. Use with non-standard socket dimensions (ie non commercial spools or other non standard, modified, etc spools) may require electrical tape for secure installation. Caps Cover Dimensions: 7/8 inch C9 diameter, 3/4 inch C7 diameter.' - which is, of course, intended to properly set expectation.

Excellent Product!

We hang Christmas lights professionally and have always had to either black tape off unused bulbs for small jumps between roof and "eyebrows", or cut in a jumper. Found these and just started using them and they're PERFECT! Much faster than taping or adding cords and they clip on easily and hold tight.

Definitely going to become a stable in our crews holiday toolboxes!

Easy to order, fast service, BUT, these caps do not fit all C9 sockets. I ordered some C9 led lights and got them the same day as the caps arrived. These caps are too big for the lights I have, both the c7 and c9 ends are too big. I'll hang on to them for use in the future.

Exactly what we needed

These work well. They snap on and stay on great (at least on the C7 side). I went the step further and added a piece of electrical tape just in case. One out of the bag was warped and unusable, but hey, there's 100 in there, so we had extras.

Will these work with LED sockets or only incandescent?

Hi there - the socket caps work with most (not all - see product description) standard C7 or C9 stringer per the dimensions show on the product page. Since C7 and C9 stringers use screw in type sockets that are compatible with either led or incandescent bulbs, the bulb type can be either - since the socket cap is designed to cover an open socket that has no bulb in it. Hence, bulb type does not matter. Hope that helps :) Thank you!
