How do I set the timer?

Rotate the dial to the current time, then press the on/off pegs in or out to set your desired on and off times. Each peg represents a 15 or 30-minute interval (depending on the dial). The timer runs one 24-hour cycle per day — set it once and it repeats automatically.

What's the difference between this timer and the photocell timer?

This timer uses manual pegs to set fixed on/off times that you choose. The photocell timer automatically detects dusk and turns lights on at sunset — no manual adjustment needed as the days get shorter or longer. Use this manual timer when you want precise control over on/off times; use the photocell timer when you want a true "set it and forget it" experience.

Can I plug two separate light strings into this timer?

Yes — this timer has two grounded outlets, so you can run two separate cords or light strings from the same timer on the same schedule.

I'm still trying to figure out how to set the time of day on this timer. All of the other outlet timers that I own have an arrow or similar mark that is to line up with the number that refers to the current hour. There is not a mark anywhere on this timer, to tell me where the actual time of day should be located when starting this timer. The directions do not refer to the location either. Would appreciate an answer to this dilemma! Thank you! And, the cover doesn't stay closed!
