How to Choose Twinkle LED Christmas Light Bulbs

Twinkle bulbs are the retrofit way to add motion to a C7/C9 display: because each bulb twinkles independently, you control the density of the effect. Make every socket a twinkle bulb for a full dancing line, or mix twinkle bulbs among steady-on bulbs — one in every third or fourth socket — for an accent of sparkle over a steady base.

The twinkle is a quick, light flicker — livelier than a DreamSpark® slow fade, but far less intense than a SuperSpark® strobe. Warm white suits traditional displays, cool white reads crisp and icy, and multicolor twinkle brings back the classic dancing multicolor roofline.

Both lens finishes are available: faceted for extra refraction on each flicker, smooth for a softer diffused sparkle. Standard E12/E17 bases fit any standard stringer. Every product here is backed by our Reindeer Proof™ Warranty.

What do twinkle LED bulbs do?

Each twinkle bulb flickers on its own random timing while holding its color, producing the classic dancing-light effect along a C7 or C9 line.

How is twinkle different from strobe or slow fade?

Twinkle is a quick, gentle flicker. Strobe (SuperSpark®) is a hard, bright flash. Slow fade (DreamSpark®) is a smooth dimming with no flicker at all. Twinkle sits in the middle — lively but traditional.

Can I mix twinkle bulbs with steady-on bulbs?

Yes — that is one of the best reasons to buy retrofit twinkle bulbs. Placing a twinkle bulb every few sockets among steady bulbs gives a subtle sparkle; using all twinkle bulbs gives the full dancing effect.

What colors and finishes are available?

Warm white, cool white, and multicolor, each in faceted (sparkling) or smooth (diffused) lens finishes, for both C7 and C9 sizes.

Do twinkle bulbs fit standard C7 and C9 sockets?

Yes — they use standard E12 (C7) and E17 (C9) screw bases and work in any standard stringer or socket line.
