Pink Christmas Lights: How To Choose Bulbs, Strings, Nets, And Palettes

A white brick corner cafe on a snowy night with its roofline and front window outlined in pink C9 Christmas bulbs and two potted evergreens wrapped in pink and white mini lights

Pink has moved well past novelty. A roofline in soft pink C9 bulbs, a tree wrapped in pink mini lights, or a porch lit in pink and cool white looks fresh and playful, and it stands out on a street full of warm white. The catch is that pink is a lighter, softer color at night than red, so the product you choose for each part of your display matters more than it does with a classic palette.

This guide covers which pink bulbs and lens styles to use where, how pink pairs with other colors, the ColorCraft® palettes that already include pink, and how to work out quantities before you order. To see everything in one place, start with our pink Christmas lights collection. For styling inspiration, our pink Christmas decorating ideas pair well with this guide.

How Pink Reads At Night

Pink sits between red and white, so it glows lighter and more pastel than red from across the street. That softness is the appeal, but it changes a few planning decisions:

  • Use larger lenses for the architecture. C9 and C7 retrofit bulbs carry pink much farther than mini lights, so let them outline the roofline, windows, and doors.
  • Wrap a little tighter on trees. On trunks and branches, close spacing keeps pink reading as a solid color rather than scattered dots.
  • Choose your white on purpose. Cool white (6400K) keeps pink bright and candy-like. Warm white (3000K) pulls it toward a softer rose tone. Both work; mixing all three can look muddy.

Pink C9 And C7 Bulbs For Rooflines And Outlines

For rooflines, gutters, and ridgelines, use screw-in bulbs on a socket stringer. The C9 Pink Smooth ProCore® LED Christmas Light Bulbs give a solid, even point of pink that reads well from the street. They use an E17 intermediate base, draw 0.84 watts per bulb, and have a nearly indestructible polycarbonate lens on a nickel-plated base. They are dimmable, IP67 rated, sold in packs of 25, and backed by a 3-Season Reindeer Proof™ Warranty.

Prefer more sparkle? The C9 Pink Faceted ProCore® bulbs use the same base and wattage with a faceted lens that throws sharper points of light. For windows, doorways, railings, and trees viewed up close, step down to the C7 Pink Smooth ProCore® bulbs, which use an E12 candelabra base and draw 0.8 watts each. C9 bulbs need a C9 stringer and C7 bulbs need a C7 stringer.

Bulb Packs Or A Complete Set?

Bulb packs do not include a stringer, which lets you build runs to any length with a stringer from our C9 stringer collection or C7 stringer collection. Our stringer buying guide explains spacing, lengths, and wire. If a 25-foot run is all you need, the C9 Pink Smooth ProCore® String Light Set and the C9 Pink Faceted ProCore® String Light Set are complete sets with 25 bulbs and a 25-socket stringer at 12" spacing. Up to 40 sets connect end to end.

Pink Mini Light Strings For Trees, Railings, And Wreaths

Mini light strings have the lens styles sealed onto the wire, so they are the right choice for wrapping trunks and branches, porch railings, wreaths, garland, and indoor trees. Our pink strings have single-molded sealed sockets, 4" spacing, green wire, stackable male and female plugs, and an IP44 rating. They are dimmable, backed by a 3-Season Reindeer Proof™ Warranty, and if one light goes out, the rest stay lit.

String Lens Look Lit Length Max End To End
50 5mm Pink Wide-angle dome, bright and even 16.3 ft 90 strings
70 5mm Pink Wide-angle dome, bright and even 23 ft 45 strings
50 M5 Pink Elongated faceted lens 16.3 ft 90 strings
70 M5 Pink Elongated faceted lens 23 ft 45 strings
100 M5 Pink Elongated faceted lens 33 ft 27 strings
70 G12 Pink Round faceted globe, jewel-like 23 ft 45 strings

The 50-light strings are handy for wreaths, small trees, and short railings, and they draw just 4.8 watts each. The M5 lens has a larger lighted surface than the 5mm dome, which gives pink a fuller, softer glow on a tree viewed from the sidewalk. The G12 globe scatters light in every direction for a jeweled look on shrubs and patio trees. Keep mini light strings on trees, shrubs, railings, and greenery; use C9 or C7 bulbs for the roofline.

Pink Net Lights For Shrubs And Hedges

For bushes and hedges, nets are the fastest way to get even coverage. The 5mm 4' x 6' Pink LED Net Lights put 100 lights on a 6" x 4" grid, draw 12 watts per net, and have a 24" lead so you can reach an extension cord without stretching. Up to 18 nets connect end to end. Our net light buying guide walks through sizing a hedge.

Pink Palettes That Work

Solid pink is bold, but many of the best pink displays mix it with one or two other colors. You can build these looks by mixing single-color products, or let a ColorCraft® string do the mixing for you. Every ColorCraft® string below has 50 lights on 6" spacing for 24.5 feet of lit length, and up to 45 strings connect end to end.

Pink And Cool White

The cleanest, most modern pink look. Outline the house in cool white C9 bulbs and wrap the trees and railings in pink, or reverse it. The 50 5mm ColorCraft® Cotton Candy string blends pink, cool white, and teal on one string for a pastel look that works on evergreens and porch railings. Browse white options in our cool white Christmas lights collection.

Pink, Red, And White

Pink sits naturally next to red. The 50 5mm ColorCraft® Cupid string mixes cool white, red, and pink, a sweetheart palette that looks festive all through the decorating season. For a more traditional take, see our red Christmas lights buying guide.

Playful Multi-Color Palettes

For a candy-shop look, the ColorCraft® Candy string blends pink, orange, and gold. The ColorCraft® Gingerbread string mixes pink, teal, lime green, and purple, and the ColorCraft® Havana string blends teal, frosted lime green, and frosted pink. These are unique color palettes no big box aisle carries. See them all in the ColorCraft® collection or our ColorCraft® buyers guide.

Add Sparkle With A Strobe Overlay

Our SuperSpark® strobes are not made in pink, but a cool white strobe layered over pink adds serious sparkle. The 50 5mm Cool White SuperSpark® string has every light strobing rapidly and randomly, like a shower of tiny camera flashes, across 24.5 feet. It is extremely flashy, so one string wrapped through a pink tree goes a long way. Our strobe lights guide covers more options.

How Many Pink Lights Do You Need?

  • Rooflines: Measure each run in feet. With 12" spacing, your footage equals your bulb count, so a 50-foot roofline takes 50 bulbs (two packs) and 50 feet of stringer. Our roofline buying guide covers clips and layout.
  • Tree trunks: Multiply the trunk's circumference by the number of wraps per vertical foot. A trunk about 1 foot around, wrapped every 3 inches, uses about 4 feet of string per foot of height, so one 23-foot string covers roughly 5.5 feet of trunk.
  • Shrubs and hedges: One 4' x 6' net covers about 24 square feet of hedge face. Measure the front and top and divide.
  • Power: LED makes pink easy on your circuits. Twenty-five C9 Pink ProCore® bulbs draw about 21 watts, and a 15-amp household circuit supports about 1,440 watts of continuous load.

Questions & Answers

What are the best pink Christmas lights for a roofline?

Use pink C9 retrofit bulbs on a C9 stringer. Our C9 Pink Smooth and Faceted ProCore® LED bulbs use an E17 base, draw 0.84 watts each, and are dimmable and IP67 rated. The larger lens carries pink much farther than mini lights.

Should I pair pink lights with warm white or cool white?

Cool white keeps pink bright and candy-like, while warm white pulls it toward a softer rose tone. Both work. Pick one white for the whole display, because mixing pink with both whites can look muddy.

Which pink mini lights are best for a Christmas tree?

Our pink strings come in 5mm, M5, and G12 lens styles, all on 4 inch spacing. The M5 lens has a larger lighted surface for a fuller, softer glow, the 5mm dome is bright and even, and the G12 globe gives a jeweled look.

Do pink C9 bulbs come with a stringer?

Bulb packs do not include a stringer. If you only need a 25 foot run, our C9 Pink Smooth and Faceted ProCore® String Light Sets include 25 bulbs and a 25 socket stringer at 12 inch spacing, and up to 40 sets connect end to end.

Are there pink strobe Christmas lights?

Our SuperSpark® strobes are not made in pink. For sparkle, layer a Cool White SuperSpark® string over your pink lights. Every light strobes rapidly and randomly, so one string goes a long way.

Which ColorCraft® palettes include pink?

Cotton Candy blends pink, cool white, and teal. Cupid mixes cool white, red, and pink. Candy blends pink, orange, and gold. Gingerbread mixes pink, teal, lime green, and purple, and Havana blends teal, frosted lime green, and frosted pink.

How many pink C9 bulbs do I need for my roofline?

With 12 inch spacing, your roofline footage equals your bulb count. A 50 foot roofline takes 50 bulbs, which is two packs of 25, plus 50 feet of C9 stringer.
