These stretch-fit blackout caps pull over the base of M5, M6, and 5mm LED bulbs (and some incandescent mini lights) to block 100% of the light output from a specific bulb. The cap is pliable enough to stretch snugly around the base, creating a seal that blocks light completely without removing the bulb from the string.
Most commonly used on wireframe displays, where some bulbs end up at junctions or on the back of the frame where you don't want light showing. Also useful anywhere in a display where extra bulbs end up in positions you want to go dark — without cutting or altering the string.

Works great to hide unwanted lights!
These easily slip on over the bulb and onto the socket. They are slightly elastic so they grip and hold. I am using white wire/sockets so you can see glow through the socket but not these caps. Hopefully these will stay put for years to come. I taped over with electrical tape, more to cover the light bleeding through the socket, but also to keep the caps in place with all the moving about of my frames for taking in and out of storage.
In concept, these work great! In reality, they do work good; but need a little help. While these may hold on by themselves if pushed on hard over the edge of LED light body, I find that they still tend pop off and work their way off of the light. My solution for use with my lights since they will be permanently blacked out on my radio frequency sign... I put a little dab of clear 100% silicone caulk in each cap before I push it on. Once the silicone cures they are good to go, I don't recommend the silicone if you plan to use the lights again.
It's exactly what I ordered it came fast and I'm very happy to find this hard to find item.
They are very easy to put over any standard mini light. However, they do not work on bigger bulbs. They snap right over the light socket with a tight grip and stay there. Perfect for my diy wire frame light project!

They were a little big for my bulbs so I had to use electrical tape to keep them on, but they work way better than just tape and shut out the light.

Works great to hide unwanted lights on a string
So far so good. When installed it was cold in the garage and difficult to push on so used my heat gun to heat up for about 10 seconds and slid on easier.So far non have popped off out of 40.

Great, I used these a long time ago, so knew they worked great! Exactly what I wanted. Plus they arrived earlier than I expected. That was nice!
There are extra bulbs remaining after outlining the outside of our front windows. Rather than having lit extra bulbs dangle, these sleeves cover them and the total look is more professional.
I happened to stumble upon this product when researching ways to cut or mask off extra lights at the end of LED strands I use to make my mega tree. Frightened by the thought of wrapping each individual bulb with electrical tape, or causing performance issues if I cut the length of the strands to meet my needs, this solution was a simple and cheap way to do what I need to do to sharpen my display. I bought 800 of these to cap off the unused bulbs. Super simple and quick to install. I had all strands and bulbs covered in about 90 minutes. 100% recommend this to anyone who has a use case like mine. Buy them - you won't be disappointed.
Item was use to cover umbrella lights so i could paint the wire.
This is not what I ordered. There is a difference between incandescent and led black out caps. I ordered INCANDESCENT and got LED!!! The place where I ordered said incandescent and this says Multi use. I would not have ordered if the order place said multi use!!
Hi Christy, I'm sorry the blackout caps did not work for you. Our blackout caps are primarily designed for use on single molded LED M5 and 5mm light strings as noted in the product description - which has always referred to them as multi use blackout caps. They also will work on *some* types of incandescent mini lights - for example, they will work with some standard base incandescent bulbs, but they will not work with non standard bases or with T-Lock style bases (also noted in the product description).

The caps work great! I might snip off the little clasp on the light bulbs and sockets for a better fit. Excellent company to do business with. They kept me informed every step of the way. Great customer service. I will definitely shop with them again in the future.
They were a little tight to put on but all in all it blocks out the light and it works really great I'm really happy

These were a welcome piece for my lightining as I always tape around the lights I don't want exposed. Only thing with this brand or style is you can't use them on my leds. It will slip over the bulb, but won't stay only because I have a little T lock on the bottom of the light that locks it into the holder, so I can't push the caps all the down to get them snug. It does say in the description that it may not fit t lock incandescent but didn't say about LED t lock. They must be the same since they won't stay on. Bummed me out. Nothing wrong with these, I just can't use. :(
the ones you sent were no good to me. they were just to big . they slided off the light bulbs. they were returned and you had no other.
Hi Michael - sorry those didn't work out for you. They are designed to be pushed all the way down over the base of the bulb - there is a video showing how they work on the product page of our website. But they also don't work on odd size bulb bases. So, thanks for giving them a try! They do work better than any other on standard size 5mm and M5 single molded pro grade LED strands.
Very sturdy product, works well stays put, just a bit hard to put on because they fit very tight. I was happy to find these.
