Christmas Light Supplies and Accessories

A great display is mostly the parts nobody sees: the wire, the plugs, the clips and the seals that keep everything lit from Thanksgiving weekend through New Year's. This collection is those parts, in the same professional formats installers use on rooflines, trees, homes and businesses.

Stringers, Wire and Plugs

  • C7 and C9 stringers in 25', 50' and 100' lengths with 6" or 12" socket spacing, on green or white wire. Add C7 or C9 ProCore® bulbs to build a roofline, window or tree run.
  • 18 AWG SPT1 and SPT2 zipcord on 250' and 500' spools, in green or white, for building your own custom-length extension cords and socket runs.
  • Slide-on (vampire) plugs in male, female, female inline pass-through and splicer styles, sold in packs of 25 and in male-and-female bundles. Match the plug to your wire type, SPT1 or SPT2.
  • Replacement sockets (C7/E12 and C9/E17) and termination caps that snap onto the end of SPT1 wire for a clean, weather-resistant finish.

Weatherproofing and Socket Care

  • Socket Stuffer® screw-in covers for empty C7 and C9 sockets, in green, white and black. They screw in like a bulb and seal with a wide cap, so they fit any C7 or C9 socket from any manufacturer, unlike press-fit caps that only fit specific socket sizes.
  • Rubber socket seals (E12 and E17 O-rings, packs of 100) and weatherproof plug gaskets that sit between male and female plugs to help prevent moisture-related GFCI trips.
  • Blackout caps that stretch over 5mm and M5 lights to block individual lights without cutting the string.

Control, Timing and Repair

Chase, bounce and build-up controllers and the fully programmable GFade 8; a 2-outlet outdoor photocell timer that turns your lights on at dusk and off after 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours (15 amp / 1875 watt max); and the LED Keeper PRO repair tool with replacement pods.

Mega Trees and Tree Toppers

The Mega Tree Kit builds a pole tree up to 20 feet tall around a 24-peg crank-up hook head that lowers to the ground for loading. Separate 16-peg and 24-peg crank-up hook heads fit 1.5" pipe, and a guy wire kit is sold on its own. Finish the top with a 12", 18" or 24" powder-coated steel star topper frame and its matching cool white M5 LED light kit (sold separately), or the 12" 3D star.

Answers to the most common christmas light supplies shopping and comparison questions.

What is the difference between SPT1 and SPT2 wire?

Both are 18 AWG, 2-conductor zipcord. SPT2 has thicker insulation than SPT1, which makes it the heavier-duty choice for outdoor, higher-load or extra-durability runs; SPT1 is the standard choice for most Christmas light jobs. Slide-on plugs and replacement sockets are made for one wire type or the other, so always match SPT1 plugs to SPT1 wire and SPT2 plugs to SPT2 wire.

Where do male, female and inline slide-on plugs go?

A male plug goes at the start of a run, where it plugs into power. A plain female plug goes at the end of a run. A female inline pass-through plug is the only style that can be installed anywhere along the wire, which lets you tap power mid-run.

What is a Socket Stuffer® used for?

Socket Stuffer® covers screw into empty C7 or C9 sockets to keep debris, moisture and fingers out. They help protect strings that have empty sockets and are often a safety requirement for commercial displays. Because they screw in and seal with a wide cap, they fit C7 and C9 sockets from every manufacturer and era.

How do I keep outdoor plug connections dry?

Fully seat every plug, add a drip loop before each connection, keep connections pointed down and off the ground, and use weatherproof plug gaskets, socket seals and termination caps. Do not wrap connections in tape: tape traps moisture inside, and after a rain you would have to unwrap every junction to dry it out.

How does the outdoor photocell timer work?

Its built-in photocell turns your lights on automatically at dusk, so there is nothing to adjust as sunset times change. You choose how long the lights stay on after dusk (2, 4, 6 or 8 hours). It has two grounded outlets and handles up to 15 amps / 1875 watts.

What comes in the Mega Tree Kit?

The kit includes a 24-peg crank-up hook head, a 12" base plate, hoist ropes, pulleys, guy wires with clamps, a guy wire adapter, ground anchors, turnbuckles, shackles, quick links and a star mount bushing. The 24 pegs support up to 24 drops. The center pole is not included: you need two 10-foot lengths of 1.5" rigid threaded electrical conduit from a hardware store. The hardware will not work with EMT conduit or plumbing couplings.

Do magnetic clips and clamps work on every roof?

No. Magnetic clips and Lite-Netics magnetic wire clamps hold only to ferrous (steel) metal such as steel roofs, flashing and steel buildings. They will not stick to aluminum, vinyl, wood or brick; use TuffClips, shingle tabs or All-In-One clips on those surfaces.
