These stretch-fit blackout caps pull over the base of M5, M6, and 5mm LED bulbs (and some incandescent mini lights) to block 100% of the light output from a specific bulb. The cap is pliable enough to stretch snugly around the base, creating a seal that blocks light completely without removing the bulb from the string.
Most commonly used on wireframe displays, where some bulbs end up at junctions or on the back of the frame where you don't want light showing. Also useful anywhere in a display where extra bulbs end up in positions you want to go dark — without cutting or altering the string.

- Blocks 100% of light output
- Black
- Pack of approximately 100
- Does not damage the bulb or affect the circuit
- 1-season warranty
Frequently Asked Questions
When would I use a blackout cap?
Any time you have a bulb on a string that ends up in a location where you don't want light. The most common use case is wireframe displays — bulbs at frame junctions or on the back side of the frame that would otherwise shine where you don't want them. You can also use them on any display where a section of bulbs falls in an unwanted spot and you want to block the light without removing or cutting the string.
Does the blackout cap damage the bulb or affect the rest of the string?
No — the cap simply stretches over the bulb base and blocks the light. The bulb remains in the socket and the circuit stays intact. Remove the cap any time to restore normal light output.
What bulb types do these fit?
These caps are designed for M5, M6, and 5mm LED bulbs. They also work with some incandescent mini lights. They are not designed for C7 or C9 bulbs.

More Information
If you are having problems with these caps slipping off the bulb, then you are not sliding the cap all the way over the base of the bulb as they were designed. Or you are using them on non standard or T-lock incandescent mini light strings which will usually not fit. Please review this article for more information: My Blackout Caps Are Too Big!
