Slide On Vampire Plugs

Slide-on vampire plugs — also called Gilbert plugs — are the standard connectors for building custom Christmas light extension cords and socket wire runs. Press them onto cut SPT1 or SPT2 zipcord wire with no tools, no wire stripping, and no soldering — the pierced tooth design (hence the moniker "vampire plug") bites through the insulation and locks in place. The Christmas Light Emporium carries the full range: male and female end plugs, female inline pass-through plugs for mid-run branch connections, splicer plugs for joining wire sections, and the triple tap for splitting one power run into three. Available in SPT1 and SPT2 versions (match plug type to wire type), in green and white.

SPT1 plugs are rated for SPT1 wire; SPT2 plugs are rated for SPT2 wire. Always match plug to wire gauge — do not mix SPT1 fittings on SPT2 wire or vice versa.

How to Choose

Match the vampire plug to your wire gauge: SPT-1 plugs fit SPT-1 wire, and SPT-2 plugs fit SPT-2 wire — the two are not interchangeable. Choose a male plug for the start of a run and female plugs for mid-run or end connections. If you are building custom light strings or extending existing sets, verify the amp rating of the plug is sufficient for your total light load.
