Everything You Need to Know About Christmas Rope Light

LED rope light is a flexible PVC tube with LEDs inside — used for outlining architectural features, accenting patios and railings, wrapping columns and pillars, framing signs and displays, and filling accent runs where string lights or stringer wire don’t fit. The Christmas Light Emporium carries 150’ spools of 2-wire 1/2” rope light in a range of colors, plus all the accessories needed to cut, power, extend, and mount it.

What’s in This Collection

150’ Rope Light Spools — 2-wire, 1/2” diameter, 120V. Colors: warm white, cool white, red, green, blue, and multicolor. Sold by the spool. Cut to any length.

Power Cords — For connecting a cut rope light end to a standard outlet.

Extension Cables — For extending the distance between the power source and the rope light.

Mounting Clips — For securing rope light to surfaces along the run.

Splice Pins & Heat Shrink Tube — For joining two rope light sections or repairing a damaged cut.

How to Use Rope Light

Rope light is sold in 150’ spools and can be cut to any length at the marked cut points along the spool. After cutting, attach a power cord to one end to connect to an outlet. Use mounting clips to secure the run to surfaces. For runs longer than 150’, use extension cables to connect additional spools.

Rope Light vs. C7/C9 Stringer Wire

Rope light is best for custom-length accent runs, column wraps, curved outlines, and situations where the flexible tube format is an advantage. For rooflines, window outlines, and traditional C7/C9 architectural runs, use stringer wire and ProCore® bulbs.
